No fewer than nine soldiers have been confirmed dead following the detonation of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the 85km Maiduguri-Gubio road in Borno. Confirming the incident yesterday in Maiduguri, military and Civilian JTF sources revealed, “Our investigations indicated that the explosive devices were planted along the road last night by Boko Haram terrorists to cause havoc on the soldiers”, stating that the troops were travelling from Maiduguri via Gubio town for an operation in the Sasawa Forest, located in the neighbouring state of Yobe, when the incident occurred. Nigerian troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF), North-East ‘Operation Haɗin-Kai‘, have rescued 74 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from a possible abduction by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists along the Buratai–Kamuya road in Borno State. Borno: Many soldiers reportedly killed, as ISWAP attacks military base

Several soldiers are feared dead and others injured after fighters from the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) attacked a military base in Ngamdu, Borno state, early yesterday morning. Reports said the terrorists stormed the Ngamdu military camp around 2 a.m. and began shooting at soldiers on duty. The insurgents reportedly carried out a late-night assault on the Ngamdu military camp, causing casualties among the troops. Some of the injured soldiers have been taken by ambulance to the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital in Damaturu for treatment.
