President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday approved the suspension of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Adamawa State, Barrister Hudu Yunusa Ari, who illegally declared Aisha Binani winner of the State’s gubernatorial election when collation had not been concluded. A Federal High Court in Abuja yesterday declined the request to hear an ex-parte Motion filed by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Senator A’isha Dahiru-Ahmed, popularly known as Binani. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended the collation of Saturday’s supplementary governorship election in Adamawa State. National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education, Barrister Festus Okoye said on the Commission’s Twitter handle that the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Adamawa state and the Returning Officer have been summoned to Abuja with immediate effect.
