Bandits have reportedly attacked Gumburawa village, in Wamakko local government area of Sokoto State, killing one person and abducting four others.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, in the village located near Usmanu ?anfodio University on the outskirts of Sokoto city.
Among the kidnapped victims is Fodio Abdullahi, a 300-level student of Usmanu ?anfodio University.
According to a local resident, Saidu Muhammad Gumburawa, who had previously been kidnapped by bandits, the attackers raided the area for about 30 minutes, targeting specific houses.
He said, They killed one person and kidnapped four others. They arrived around midnight and left after about 30 minutes”.
Spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, SP Ahmed Rufai, stated that more details would be provided after confirmation from the Divisional Police Office in the area.
The attack has added to the growing insecurity in Sokoto State, with residents calling for increased protection and intervention from security forces.
