Confirms Garba NERC Chairman, two others
The Senate yesterday adopted a Motion sponsored by Senator representing Kano-North Senatorial district, Jibrin Barau for the reconstruction and dualisation of Kano – Danbatta – Kazaure – Daura – Niger Republic border.
The Motion, which was co-sponsored by the Senator representing Katsina-North, Baba – Kaita Ahmad maintained that the road from Kano State to Niger Republic would be of economic importance to the country.
One of the prayers which was sustained after the debate was the provision of adequate funding in the 2021 budget.
Earlier, the Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan, during yesterday’s plenary session, frustrated moves to push the lawmakers to adjourn sitting.
The Senate has also confirmed President Muhammadu Buhari’s nomination of Engr. Sanusi Garba as Chairman of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
The Upper Chamber also confirmed the nominations of Dr. Musiliu O. Oseni as Vice Chairman; and Aisha Mahmud as Commissioner.
The confirmation of the nominees followed the consideration of the report of the Senate Committee on Power.
