…Dissolves cabinet, sacks political appointees
Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress, (APC).
Fubara made the announcement on Monday during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The defection comes only hours after the governor held a closed door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja, a development that had earlier sparked political speculation.
Sources disclosed that Fubara arrived at the Presidential Villa dressed in a deep blue long sleeve shirt, black trousers, and a black flat cap. He was sighted walking toward the President’s office at about 5:01 p.m., shortly after Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, had been ushered in for a separate engagement.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State governor has also dissolved his cabinet and relieved all political appointees of their duties, signaling an imminent political realignment within the state’s executive structure.
Details of the cabinet dissolution and the implications of Fubara’s defection are expected to emerge subsequently.
