Presidential election petition tribunal judgment to be broadcast live ‘for transparency’ – Appeal Court

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, (PEPT) sitting at the Court of Appeal, Abuja has fixed Wednesday, September 6, 2023 to deliver judgement in petitions challenging the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the February 25 presidential election.

In a statement, Chief Registrar, Court of Appeal, Umar Bangari, said that the judgement will be televised live for the sake of transparency and that any television station interested will be allowed to broadcast the event live.

In a statement issued on Monday, Bangari said, “In a bid to promote transparency and openness, these judgments will be televised live by interested television stations for the public to follow”.

The statement noted further that, “Access to the Court premises will be strictly on accreditation. Only accredited individuals, including Counsel and representatives of Political will be granted access into the Court room. Interested members of the public are advised to watch proceedings from their television sets”.
