…As results trickle in from polling units
Results trickling in from across polling units in yesterday’s governorship election in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is currently in the early lead.

According to the results released so far yesterday, Sen. Adeleke put up a strong performance in areas controlled by the ruling APC, especially in Ife and Osogbo, the State capital. He is closely followed by the incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC).
At a polling unit located around Government House in Osogbo, Adeleke also defeated Oyetola sending jitters down the spine of many APC supporters. According to the governorship election score-sheet for Agowande/Oshogbo GRA/Governors Office polling unit in Olorunda local government area, the PDP scored 117 votes while APC got 106 votes.

Both candidates, however, won their respective polling units. The APC polled 545 votes to defeat PDP, which had 69 at Oyetolas polling unit. In Adelekes polling unit at Ede-North, PDP polled 218 votes while APC had 23 votes.
Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has left Osun State where the governorship election was held. It was gathered that the APC National Leader left the state to meet with House of Assembly Speakers from the party on Saturday in Abuja.
The Osun State governorship election was keenly contested mainly between the candidate of the APC and the PDP.
