The Nigerian Navy has announced plans of establishing its Desert Warfare Institute in Kano.

The decision was taken after Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, received a request from the State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to ensure the presence and visibility of Nigerian Navy in the State.
The Nigerian Navy Chief of Policy and Plans, Real Admiral COR Ezekobe, disclosed this when he led a delegation to Governor Ganduje at his office in Kano, on Wednesday. He and other delegates were reportedly at the Governor’s office to brief him on the development so far.
In his response, Governor Ganduje, who expressed excitement and appreciation over the gesture, sad, “We are so happy to have you here”.
“I can see that the return match is so quick; this shows the level of seriousness from your part. Your presence in Kano will definitely boost the morale of our youth in joining the Nigerian Navy. It will also improve our security of the State generally”, he stated.
