…Says only NEC can announce primary winners
The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has disowned a wave of fake results circulating online, warning Nigerians to disregard any list of primary winners posted on social media.

In an issued statement yesterday, signed by National Publicity Secretary Osa Director Esq, the party said only its National Executive Council (NEC), has the authority to release official outcomes of the nationwide primaries held on May 28-29, 2026.
“The general public is hereby urged to disregard the various results circulating on social media as the outcome of the nationwide primaries conducted by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)”, the statement read.
The party said stakeholders and the public will be “availed of the results of our primaries when we send the list of candidates to fly our party’s flag to INEC”.
The move comes amid growing confusion online where unverified “winners’ lists” have been trending since the primaries ended, with aspirants and supporters claiming victory in different states. NDC’s warning signals a crackdown on what it called “desperate propaganda” and attempts to pre-empt the party’s internal process.
