The foremost pan-Nigerian Hausa news television channel, LibertyTV, has announced the phased launch of its new Drama Unit for family entertainment and lifestyle contents, as from yesterday, June 1st, 2024.

The new unit will package a slate of new drama series and feature films, telling authentic stories from Northern Nigeria and West Africa, in Hausa.

Speaking on the new development, the LibertyTV Executive Chairman, Alhaji (Dr.) Ahmed Tijjani Ramalan,  stated that the TV channel had, since its launch nine years ago, has become a breeding ground for young, upcoming journalists, and developed some of the finest Northern Nigerian writers producers, presenters, directors, editors now working with International and local media channels, partners like the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Hausa service, Voice of America, (VOA) Hausa, DW Hausa, TRT Hausa, TrustTV, among others

“We are now positioned to be a major oan-Nigerian producers of authentic Hausa content for Nigeria, Africa and viewers in the Middle-East region, who are becoming more and more exposed to the unique and compelling stories being told in high-quality dramas and films from Nigeria”, he stated.

With the creation of this new original Drama Unit, LibertyTV will leverage its own production resources and expertise, as well as look to partner with top creative talent across the Nigeria, and with the major global streaming services, to develop and produce an expanding slate of narrative content.

“Our goal is not just to create ever more popular and successful dramas for our core Hausa-speaking audiences, but we plan to create a slate of LibertyTV content that appeals to millions of eye balls throughout West, Central Africa and the Middle-East North Africa (MENA) region”, Ramalan stated.
