The Police Command in Kano has confirmed the arrest of a 20-year-old housewife, Suwaiba Shu’aibu, for allegedly stabbing one A’isha Kabir to death a few days to her wedding.

A’isha was said to have accepted a proposal for marriage to one Malam Shahrehu Alhaji Ali, the husband of the suspect, before her gruesome murder by her to-be co-wife on January 1, at Gimawa village, Doguwa local government area of Kano State.
The spokesman, Kano Police Command, DSP Abdullahion Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the incident in a statement issued yesterday, said the deceased was declared missing on January 1st and her corpse was discovered the following day in an uncompleted building within her neighbourhood.
According to him, “Investigations revealed the deceased and the husband of the suspect have been in a proposed relationship for over six years and their wedding ceremony was scheduled to hold on 9th January, 2021″.
Kiyawa said during interrogation, the suspect freely confessed that, “she had called the victim on phone, deceived and lured her to an uncompleted building in their neighborhood where she used a sharp knife to stab her on her neck, chest and other parts of her body.
She disclosed that she killed the victim out of jealousy, because her husband proposed to marry her.”
He said the case has been transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Homicide Section, for discrete investigation, adding that the suspect will be charged to court at the completion of investigation.
