Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the appointment of Dr. Suleiman Wali Sani as the new Chief of Staff, Government House, Kano.

The appointment, announced yesterday by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, marks the restoration of the Office of the Chief of Staff, which was scrapped in December 2024.
Dr. Sani, an accomplished medical doctor and policy expert, brings over 40 years of public service experience to his new role. A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, he also holds a Diploma from Bayero University (BUK), Kano, and the prestigious mni certificate from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru.
He previously served as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Civil Service Matters, and has held various top positions, including Permanent Secretary and Director-General in multiple ministries, as well as Chief Medical Director of major state hospitals. He has participated in over 40 state and national committees and represented Nigeria internationally in medical and administrative roles.
In a related development, Governor Yusuf also appointed retired Major-General Mohammed Sani as the new Director General of Special Services at the Government House.
The governor said the appointments reflect his administration’s commitment to strengthening governance and improving service delivery in Kano State. Both officials are expected to assume duties immediately.
