Kaduna climbs to 2nd in ‘Ease of-Doing-Business’ ranking under Uba Sani

Kaduna climbs to 2nd

Kaduna State has recorded a major governance milestone, rising from 8th to 2nd position in the latest national ‘Ease-of-Doing-Business’ ranking, a development the state government says reflects deliberate reforms and people-centred leadership under Governor Uba Sani.

Kaduna climbs to 2nd2

In a statement issued yesterday, the Governor’s Office described the leap as the outcome of “quiet but consistent” policy choices aimed at making Kaduna more business-friendly for entrepreneurs, investors and small traders.

According to the statement, signed by Suleiman Abubakar, Senior Special Assistant on Research, Documentation and Strategy-II to the Governor, “The administration has focused on reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks, clarifying regulatory processes and reorienting public institutions to serve citizens more efficiently”.  These reforms, it noted, have led to faster approvals, improved professionalism within government agencies and a more predictable operating environment for businesses.

“A key driver of the improvement is the state’s expanded use of digital platforms, particularly in taxation. The government said the digitisation of tax payments has reduced human interference, curbed leakages and eased compliance for business owners by making obligations clearer and more transparent”, it added.

The statement stressed that the ease-of-doing-business reforms are not limited to attracting large investors but are also designed to support small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), artisans, start-ups and informal traders. It added that creating a fair and stable business environment is central to the administration’s broader goals of job creation, innovation and inclusive growth.

Beyond policy reforms, the government linked the improved ranking to relative stability and social cohesion in the state, noting that an atmosphere of fairness and inclusion has helped boost investor confidence.

While describing the jump to second place as worthy of celebration, the statement said it also serves as a reminder of what focused leadership and sustained reforms can achieve.

The State government reaffirmed its commitment to deepening reforms and strengthening trust between government and the business community.
