Amnesty International strongly condemns the horrific bandits attack on Layindanauta Kuyello District of Birnin-Gwari LGA of Kaduna state.
The death toll had risen to 13 persons, including children.
According to reports, the gunmen that stormed the area on Friday around 4:00pm – went on a rampage of atrocities, killing people, destroying properties and looting shops. The pattern of the latest attack shows all the atrocious hallmarks of the consistent years of attack on the people of Birnin-Gwari LGA.
Alarming escalation of attacks, abductions for ransom and frequent killings around parts of Birnin-Gwari LGA have left people feeling more unsafe, showing utter failure of the Nigerian authorities to protect lives and properties.
Incessant killings and the stunning failure of the authorities to end them and bring suspected perpetrators to justice have been and continue to be a threat to the right to life in Nigeria.
The Nigerian authorities must focus on ending the violence in Birin Gwari — and bringing the actual suspected perpetrators to justice.
