Just In: Kano veteran journalist, Abba Ado Gwarzo, dies

A Kano-based veteran journalist, Abba Ado Gwarzo is dead.

He died I’m Tuesday morning after a brief illness at a hospital in Kano, family sources told his colleagues in Kano.

“It is with total submission to the Almighty Allah SWT Who gives and takes, from Him we came and to Him we shall return, I wish to announce the death of Malam Abba Ado Gwarzo a member of the NGE”, wrote Abdulkadir Ahmad Ibrahim, a former Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) vice president, in a group platform this morning.

Abdulkadir referred to the late Abba as “A reserved gentleman, one of the best Editors and Current Affairs Programme Producers NTA Kano ever had, where he started his career in 1978.

“He was also at the Hausa Service of Voice of Germany in the late 80s and early 90s.

“After his retirement from NTA where he also served in Lafiya, Nassarawa State, Abba Ado Gwarzo worked briefly with AIT.

“He is survived by Many Children and Grandchildren and his wife Hajiya Sa’a Ibrahim the Managing Director of ARTV-44 Kano and current Chairperson of BON.

The Late Abba will be buried today in Kano.
