Four soldiers and one civilian have reportedly been killed by a group of rampaging IPOB hoodlums in Anambra State, yesterday.

The hoodlums, operating in a Sienna bus, reportedly attacked the soldiers at a checkpoint opposite Zenith Bank in Umunze, Orumba-South local government area of the State.
However, when contacted, the spokesman of the Anambra State Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ikenga Tochukwu, stated that there was sporadic shooting in Umunze, but said he could not confirm the casualty figure in the attack. He also stated that he could not speak on the alleged killing of the four soldiers.
Tochukwu, however, said that the Police Command had deployed its team of operatives to the affected area to provide security to the residents.
Meanwhile, it was learnt that residents of Umunze and the neighbouring communities, including Umuchukwu, Ezira, and others, have been enveloped by fear of a possible invasion of soldiers on a revenge mission.
