A father, Fahad Ali, has been arrested and arraigned by police before a magistrate court at Hajj Camp, in the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), on allegations that he kidnapped his four-year-old daughter and demanded N2m ransom from his wife, the mother of the child.
The prosecutor told the court that mother of the child, Shamsiyya Mohammed, reported to police that on September 29, 2020 her daughter was kidnapped and after a while the kidnapper called her on phone asking her to pay N2m ransom or the child would be killed.
After two weeks of investigation, the police uncovered that it was her husband, Fahad Ali, the father of the girl that was making such calls just as the kidnapped girl was found with him.
Ali denied any wrongdoing when the charges were read to him at the court.
