Ø Says grains treated with chemicals, drugs expired
Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufa’i has warned those who looted the state warehouses against using the items as they are harmful to health.
A statement issued by the state commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said the government was briefed about the state of the looted items by the National Agency for Food & Drug Administration and Control, (NAFDAC).
The looted items include expired, prohibited and dangerous drugs. Persons who consume such drugs are at great risk of serious illness and death.
The management of a food processing company whose stores were looted in Kakuri neighborhood has also disclosed that the stolen grains have been treated with chemical preservatives which render them unsafe for consumption.
