Says “This is the fight of our lives”

Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufa’i, has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Tinubu’s administration, calling on Nigerians to unite and vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

El-Rufa’i, who was in Sokoto at the weekend as part of a nationwide grassroots mobilisation tour, warned that another term for the APC would endanger Nigeria’s unity, stability, and future.

“The APC is incompetent and clannish. If we allow this government another term, what remains of Nigeria’s social fabric may be destroyed,” El-Rufa’i declared at a series of townhall-style meetings with political stakeholders, youth groups, and women from all 23 local government areas of Sokoto State.

He described the ruling party’s performance as “poor governance and failed leadership”, saying the time had come for Nigerians to reclaim their country.

“I didn’t get into politics to enrich myself but to serve. And when a government ceases to serve the people, it is my duty as a senior citizen to not only speak out but take action to reverse the situation. This is the fight of our lives”, he stated.

The former governor disclosed that the opposition coalition had adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform for the 2027 elections, calling it a strategic step to unify Nigerians under a credible, people-focused alternative. “We will intensify our mobilisation across the country to ensure the APC is removed from power in 2027. This coalition is not about individual ambition—it’s about national survival”, he added.

Also speaking at the Sokoto event, a prominent opposition figure in the state, Abubakar Gada, echoed el-Rufa’i’s sentiments, assuring the crowd that the coalition was committed to delivering competent and inclusive leadership at both state and national levels.
