A voluntary organisation that promotes peace and development in northern Nigeria, the Northern Peoples Group,, Northern Peoples Group says it intends to file a formal communication with the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP) of the International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague against former President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to a press statement it issued on Sunday, the group disclosed that it plans to request the ICC to look into the atrocities perpetrated by the former President and his Service Chiefs against the Northern Nigerian peoples, pursuant to Article 15 of the Rome Statute of which the Nigerian Government is a signatory.
The statement, signed by Idris Ahmed on Sunday, said, “We intend to sue ex-President Muhammadu Buhari and his Service Chiefs at the ICC at The Hague for criminal negligence of the security of the Northern Nigerian peoples.
We want to do the same with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who seems to carry on with Buhari’s criminal policies against the same people.
