President of the Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO), Comrade Igho Akeregha, has condemned in strong terms another hike in the pump price of fuel barely months after the removal of fuel subsidy forced millions of Nigerians into poverty.

This follows yesterday’s report that a litre of fuel, which sold at between N560 to N537 since the administration pronounced removal of subsidy, has jumped to between N617 – N700 without notice amid the return of long queues at filling stations.
Comrade Akeregha said the sustained assault on already impoverished Nigerians cannot continue declaring the so-called N8000 palliative promised by Tinubu as a huge joke.
Addressing newsmen on the development and sundry national issues, yesterday in Abuja, the CLO president, who was flanked by principal officers of the organisation, said the pattern adopted by the present administration to systematically inflict pain on long-suffering Nigerians must be confronted and stopped before it too late.
He also warned President Bola Tinubu to beware of the ongoing regrouping of “corrupt” and indicted politicians around the presidential villa under the guise of Governors Class of ’99, alleging that some of them played ignoble roles that now plunged the country into current cyclic poverty.
According to CLO, the gathering of the past governors in the guise of solidarity has sinister undertone that Nigerians must give serious attention.
Other leaders of CLO at the briefing include: James Oyewole (North-Central Zone), Comrade Steve Aluko Daniel – Coordinator NC; Comrade Chidi Ekpewerechi, (National Coordinator (Abuja), and Ibuchukwu Ezike Executive (Dir).
