Bethel Baptist School: 28 freed, 90 still in bandits’ captivity

…Students reunite with parents

Some of the 28 traumatised students citizens of Bethel Baptist Secondary, in Chikun local government area of Kaduna State, have been released by the rag-tag bandits and kidnappers after collecting the ransom they demanded.

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN), Kaduna State, Rev. John Hayab, confirmed the development to newsmen yesterday, in Kaduna.

Recall that last week, two others had escaped from their abductors when they were sent to fetch firewood.

About ninety of the victims are still held in captivity.

Recall that 121 students of the school were abducted from their hotels by bandits on July 8. The bandits later demanded a ransom of ?60 ransom for the release of the students.

It is not clear whether the bandits released them for ransom or they were rescued by security operatives or escaped by themselves.

The parents of the students, who were reunited with their children, were thrown into a moment of joy following the latest release.
