The Nigerian Police have reportedly foiled an attack on Imo State Command and killed no fewer than five gunmen yesterday.

This tragic incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPPRO) in the State, Bala Elkana.
According to Elkana, the attackers arrived at the police command in a white Hummer bus in the early hours of yesterday.
The PPPRO said their officers immediately denied the gunmen access and engaged them in a shooting, leaving five of them dead. He added four AK-47 rifles were recovered from the gunmen.

The incident is the latest in a series of attacks by gunmen in the South-East region.
Recall that in April, the Imo Police Headquarters and Correctional Facility were attacked while scores of prisoners were let loose.
