Anti-Party Activities: “Rivers wont work for you”, Wike tells Atiku

Says he’s waiting for PDP to sack him

Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike, has insisted that he will only fight for the governorship, National Assembly and House of Assembly candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023.

Wike spoke in a State banquet organised on Friday in honour of the G5 Governors, who came to provide solidarity for the Rivers 2023 campaign flag-off in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

The Banquet was attended by the G5 Governors comprising Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu); Seyi Makinde (Oyo); Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Samuel Ortom (Benue) as well as other PDP chieftains.

The Governor insisted that Rivers would no longer work for anybody, who refuses to embrace justice, fairness and equity, saying he was only committed to working for PDP, Rivers State chapter adding that all his candidates in the state would win their Elections

According to him, after praising Buhari for releasing the money owed to some Niger Delta States of Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Delta and Bayelsa, some persons sent him messages that he should not have commended the President. He asked the States that received the money to account for just as he took a swipe at a Delta Senatorial Candidate and Businessman, Ned Nwoko, for asking him to account for what he did with the money.

He reeled out projects he executed with the money and called on Nwoko to ask his principal in Delta to also account for his own.

The Governor further said he is unfazed by threats of being sacked by the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), and dared the party to carry out the threat, stating he would respond appropriately if such happens. He said he will show his true colour should the PDP sack him.

The G-5 comprising Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo); Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia); Samuel Ortom (Benue); Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and Wike are demanding resignation of PDP National chairman Dr. Iyorchia Ayu for fairness and equity as a condition to support PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in 2023.
