Katsina: Chinese investors to inject $150m into multi-sector projects

A group of Chinese businessmen are set to invest an initial sum of $150 million or more than ₦200 billion in various sectors of Katsina State’s economy. ‘36,000 Nigerians sought asylum in Canada, Italy, UKz – Report

No fewer than 36,934 Nigerians applied for asylum in foreign countries in 2024, according to data obtained from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, (UNHCR). Canada, Italy, and the United Kingdom emerged as the top destinations for Nigerian asylum seekers in 2024. However, the data shows that 74 per cent of applications were rejected, with the highest approval rates recorded in Chad and Tunisia. The United States Mission in Nigeria has warned Nigerian travellers to strictly follow the terms of their visas, stressing that overstaying could result in long-term entry bans.
