Governor Uba Sani, of Kaduna State, has reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, emphasising that development efforts will be evenly distributed across all regions, regardless of political or electoral outcomes.

Speaking during an interview on a television programme, the governor reflected on the 2023 elections, acknowledging that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) outperformed his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), in several local government areas of Southern Kaduna. “Yes, I lost the election in Southern Kaduna; because many local governments voted for PDP. A few voted for APC; but still, we won the election overall”, he said.

Governor Sani was quick to clarify that his administration’s priorities extend beyond partisan lines. “From the day I took office, I made it clear that I am here to serve every citizen of Kaduna State, not just those who supported me at the polls,” he stated.

He underscored his administration’s principles of fairness and unity, pledging to govern without bias based on religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation. “Sectional loyalties will not guide our leadership. Equity and inclusion are our guiding values”, he said.

Addressing developmental disparities, particularly in Southern Kaduna, Governor Sani noted that the region had long been underserved in terms of infrastructure. “When we evaluated areas with the greatest needs, Southern Kaduna stood out. We’re addressing that now”, he noted.

Drawing on his tenure as a Senator representing Kaduna-Central, Sani acknowledged that central regions had historically received more infrastructure due to geographic advantages. Now, as governor, he said, the focus has shifted to underserved areas across all three senatorial zones.

“We’ve made significant progress. Roads and other infrastructure are under construction across the North, Central, and Southern parts of the state,” he said. “Development is not a reward for political support — it’s a right for all citizens”.

Governor Sani concluded by reiterating that the campaign season is over, and the work of governance must continue with fairness and purpose.
