President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima will spend a total of ₦9,364,349,417 on local and foreign travels, as well as food and refreshments in the 2026 fiscal year.

This is according to details of the 2026 Appropriation Bill released on Thursday by the Budget Office of the Federation.

Recall that President Tinubu had on December 19, 2025, presented the Budget estimate, totalling ₦58.18trillion to a joint session of the 10th National Assembly, where he said national security remained the foundation of economic growth, investment and social stability.

In the 2,790-page budget document, the President earmarked ₦3.2tr for Defence and ₦1.1tr for Power, while the Education sector is to receive ₦2.3tr.

Further details of the proposed Budget showed that the Federal Government plans to spend ₦2.1tr on Health and Social Welfare. Agriculture and Food Security is allocated ₦1.4tr, while the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) is to receive ₦1trillion.

According to the Budget proposal, Tinubu will spend N7,014,596,511 on local and international travels and ₦431,620,183 on foodstuffs, catering materials, supplies, refreshments and meals. Shettima is also expected to spend ₦1,732,106,437 on local and foreign trips and ₦186,026,286 on foodstuffs, catering materials supplies, refreshments and meals.

Further breakdown of the proposed budget showed that Tinubu is to spend ₦873,886,689 on local travels, while his foreign trips will gulp ₦6,140,709,822, while the vice-president is to spend ₦417,488,198 on local trips and a total of ₦1,314,618,239 on international travels.

According to the Budget document, the President is expected to spend a total of ₦65.77m on honorarium and sitting allowance, while the sum of ₦895m was budgeted for the purchase of library books and equipment.

The President is also expected to purchase vehicles worth ₦179m, while ₦778.6m was budgeted for the purchase of office furniture and fittings and ₦1.342m was budgeted for the purchase of health and medical equipment. In the Budget proposal, a total of ₦89.504m was budgeted for the ongoing procurement of Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) for both the President and the Vice-President.

Recall that the 10th Senate on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 passed the Appropriation Bill for second reading, setting the stage for detailed legislative scrutiny of the proposed spending plan.
