Tinubu, PDP G-5 Governors holds parley in Abuja

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday held a meeting with members of the defunct ‘G-5 Governors’ at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The group, made up of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde; former Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers); Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia); Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and Samuel Ortom (Benue) are all members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The group is considered to have been friendly with President Tinubu, and contributed to his electoral victory in February.

Although the reason for the visit is yet to be known, it is believed Makinde and the former Governors would be seeking to take advantage of their cordial relationship with the President to gain political capital.

Addressing reporters, Makinde said the G5 visited the President to apprise him of the latest happenings and the group’s stance for fairness, equity and justice in the country.

He acknowledged that nation-building, which he described as a difficult task, required constant evaluation. The G5, according to him, will keep meeting with the President on the way forward for the country.
