President Bola Tinubu will travel abroad for the first time as president on Thursday to attend the Paris Summary for the New Global Financial Pact with his international counterparts.
The Palais Brongniart will host the summit called by French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to a statement issued yesterday by the Presidents Special Adviser for Special Duties, Communication and Strategy, Dele Alake, the President is expected to visit Paris to participate, review, and sign a New Global Financial Pact, which places vulnerable countries on the priority list for support and investment, following the devastating impact of climate change, energy crisis, and after effect of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The statement is titled: President Tinubu to participate in Paris summit for new global financial pact.
The two-day Summit, running from June 22 to 23, will consider opportunities to restore fiscal space to countries that face difficult short-term financial challenges, especially the most indebted.
According to Alake, the leaders will also mobilise innovative financing for countries vulnerable to climate change; foster development in low-income countries, and encourage investment in green infrastructure for the energy transition in emerging and developing economies.
Tinubu, who is expected to return on Saturday, will be accompanied by members of the Presidential Policy Advisory Council and senior government officials.
