An explosion is reported to have taken place at the Zungeru Hydro Electric Dam, in Niger State. The explosion, which occurred in the early hours of yesterday, was said to have affected some of the installations in the dam. According to eyewitnesses, several workers were injured in the incident with one of the foreign engineers seriously injured and rushed to the Minna General Hospital. The engineer, believed to be a Chinese national, was admitted at the emergency ward of the hospital for treatment for burns in the head and hand.…

$1.3 billion Zungeru Power project 97% complete, Minister declares

The Federal Government has declared the $1.3 billion Zungeru Power project 97 percent complete. What is not certain, however, is whether it will be commissioned by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. Zungeru hydro-power project to be commissioned in Q1 2023 – FG

The Federal Government says the $1.2 billion Zungeru hydro-power dam project, constructed in Niger State, will be ready for inauguration by the first quarter (Q1) of 2023. According to an issued statement on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Matane, the Minister of Power, Aliyu Abubakar, made this known when he visited the project site.
