An Appeal Court sitting in Abuja, on Monday, sacked Senator Elisha Abbo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker representing Adamawa North Senatorial District. A three-member panel presided over by Justice C.E. Nwosu-Iheme, in a judgment, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a Certificate of Return to Rev. Amos Yohanna of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as validly elected lawmaker for the senatorial district. INEC had, on February 25, declared Mr Abbo as the winner of the senatorial poll. Sex-toy shop assault: Court orders Senator Abbo to pay N50m compensation

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday ordered a serving Senator, Elisha Abbo, to pay the sum of N50 million as compensation to Mrs Osimibibra Warmate for assaulting her last year. Justice Samira Bature gave the order in her judgment on the fundamental rights enforcement suit instituted by Warmate against the senator. A Magistrate Court in Zuba, Abuja has struck out assault case instituted against Adamawa-North lawmaker Senator Elisha Abbo by the police. Abbo was filmed assaulting a woman Osimibibra Warmate at an adult toy shop on May 11, 2019. In a copy of judgment obtained by PUNCH, Magistrate Abdullahi Ilelah who upheld a no-case submission filed by Abbo said the police failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the lawmaker assaulted Warmate.
