Senate queries DPR over N44bn remittance

Officials of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) were on Friday queried by the Senate on Friday for remitting only N44.5 billion into the Consolidated Revenue Fund in 2019 out of N2.4 trillion generated. This is as heads of many of the other revenue generating agencies invited by the Senates Joint Committee on Finance and National Planning for Interactive Sessions on their 2021 revenues projections, refused to appear. The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday asked the countrys service chiefs to step aside as a result of the rising insecurity in the country. The resolution of the upper legislative chamber followed a motion sponsored by Ali Ndume, Senator representing Borno South and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army. Kidnapping: Nigerian Senate passes bill prescribing life imprisonment for offenders

Nigerian Senate on Tuesday passed a bill which prescribes life jail to replace the current 10 years maximum sentence for kidnappers. These resolutions of the Senate followed the third reading and passage of A bill for an Act to amend the Criminal Code Act CAP. C.38, Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004.
