NBC directs all Broadcasting Stations in Nigeria to suspend Twitter usage

The National Broadcasting Commission, (NBC), has directed all broadcasting stations to suspend the use of the micro-blogging service provider, Twitter. This is according to a communique put out by NBC on Monday. In the statement signed by Professor Armstrong Idachaba, the NBC noted that the directive is consequent on the suspension of Twitter operations in Nigeria by the Federal Government. The National Broadcasting Commission, (NBC), has summoned the popular Brekete Family Show host, Ahmad Isah, otherwise known as Ordinary President, for assaulting a woman. NBC sanctions stations for airing false health cure claims, others

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), the agency that regulates broadcasting activities in Nigeria, has released “the regulatory breach profile” for the period between April to June 2020. According to the NBC document, several stations received penalties for providing false health advisory to audiences and the public on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Also, a sizable number of stations got sanctioned for peddling unverifiable ‘traditional-medicine’ claims to cure diseases. The NBC said that the quarterly ‘breach profile’ report covers most of the 600 functional broadcasting stations in Nigeria.
