Managing Director of Arewa Cotton and Allied Products Ltd., Anibe Achimugu, has revealed that Nigeria imports an estimated $4 billion worth of cotton, textiles and garments annually, warning that the trend is crippling local production and threatening jobs across the value-chain. The National Union of Textile Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN) says textile industry remained critical in addressing the nations current unemployment challenge. Its National President, John Adaji, made the disclosure at a news conference on Friday in Lagos.
