The upper chamber of the National Assembly has expressed concern over the meagre allocations proposed for the Ministry of Information and National Orientation. The Senate Committee on Information made this observation during the budget defence of the Ministry of Information. Senators donate December salaries to victims of Kaduna bombing

All serving senators in Nigeria have donated their December salaries, amounting to N109million, to the victims of the accidental bombing in Tudun-Biri, Igabi local government area of the Kaduna State. Senators expressed alarm yesterday, when they were informed that the daily feeding allowance of Nigerian prison inmates is still N750. However, it was gathered that a dog kept by the Nigerian Correctional Service is fed with the sum of N800 daily, an indication that the Service spends more to feed a dog than to feed an inmate. The Senate has vowed to make it compulsory for the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), to transmit election results electronically.
