Rivers: ‘Tinubu has intervened in political crisis’ – Bauchi Governor

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has intervened to resolve the political tension in Rivers State, Governor Bala Mohammed, of Bauchi State, has said.

Speaking to State House reporters after a meeting of the National Police Council yesterday, Mohammed said the President was talking to the parties involved in the imbroglio and that there appeared to be hope for peace.

Mohammed said, “He (President Tinubu) has shown that he is President for PDP and APC. We are going to work with him”.

The Governor’s comments come amid reports of a rift between Governor Simi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is currently Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT).

It had earlier been reported that Fubara and Wike met at the Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday morning. The two men reportedly fell out less than six months after Fubara’s inauguration. They have been in the news since the Rivers State House of Assembly began impeachment proceedings against the governor.

Recall that on Monday, Fubara stormed the State’s House of Assembly complex with his loyalists to prevent the lawmakers from carrying out their plan.
