Former governor of Gombe State Hassan ?ankwambo, at the weekend advised the outgoing governors to be prepared to face any challenges from National Institutions such as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and other that may have questions that require answers.

?ankwambo, who gave the advice at the Farewell Dinner for outgoing governors organized by the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) Secretariat as part of events for the ongoing 2023 Induction Programme for governors, also advised the incoming governors to ensure meticulous record keeping of major decisions and policies, especially proceedings of the Executive Council, and also begin to prepare for their exit as soon they are sworn-in, by planning their re-election if they are first-term governors, or retirement if they served the constitutionally allowed two terms.
“Ensure meticulous record-keeping of major decisions and policies especially proceedings of the Executive Council. Be prepared to face any challenges from National Institutions such as EFCC, ICPC, NFIU etc who may have questions that require answers, he advised.
Several speakers, including former Governor, Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, former Kwara State governor,
and the immediate-past President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, andthe Chairman, of Nigeria Governors Forum, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, at the event gave both the incoming and outgoing governors tips on how best to adapt to their new positions.
Aliyu urged the outgoing governors to prepare themselves and determine how to handle their financial needs and requirement, adding that the outgoing governors should be concerned with their physical and emotional health to be in good shape.
