President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a New Year message to Nigerians warning the citizens against engaging in anti-State activities.

The President’s valedictory message captured some pressing national issues, prominent among them which is the 2023 general elections.
Buhari, who will leave the Presidential Villa in May, 2023, also noted the fact that this would be his last New Year message as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces. He called on citizens to ensure that the 2023 general elections are free and fair, by not engaging in anti-state activities and other evil acts.
The President, in his message, also advised Nigerians to resist every attempt to be used by politicians to create unrest in any form to disrupt the elections, assuring that his administration will guarantee such activities are met with the full force of the law.

Buhari added that having served Nigerians as President, his tenure will come to an end in another five months and that his administration’s landmark Amended Electoral Act will ensure that the citizens have free and fair elections across the nation.
He thanked the Almighty Allah, who saw Nigeria through the year 2022 and has given the citizens the opportunity to see another year, urged Nigerians to reflect on the past years, reposition, and move forward with the New.
The Nigerian leader emphasised his commitment and executive pledge to see to the letter that the 2023 elections being diligently conducted by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC will be free and fair.
