Records published on the GovSpend portal indicate that the Presidency made multiple high-value payments for travel-related expenses on April 30, 2026, amounting to nearly 194 million in a single day.
According to the data, ₦79.4 million was disbursed under the Office of the Vice-President, Kashim Shettima, for “Presidential trips and other related expenses.” On the same day, an additional ₦15 million was also recorded under the Vice President’s office for similar travel-related costs. A further ₦100.6 million was paid for President Bola Tinubu’s trips and related expenses.
In total, the combined spending linked to both the President and Vice President’s offices for that day amounted to approximately ₦194 million.
The figures come amid earlier reports highlighting significant travel expenditures by the Presidency. Previous data from the GovSpend portal had shown that about ₦1.5 billion was spent on air tickets in a single day. That earlier breakdown indicated multiple payments made on December 24, 2025, through State House accounts and private travel agencies. These included ₦237 million and ₦134.4 million transferred into a State House sub-account for air tickets on the same day.
Further records showed payments to travel firms such as Overland Travels and Tours Limited, which received ₦226 million and another ₦153.5 million on December 24, 2025. Travel Options Ltd. also reportedly received ₦96.8 million for air ticket purchases. Additional transfers of ₦239 million and ₦346 million were also recorded within State House sub-accounts on the same date, all tagged for air travel expenses.
When combined, the total spending on air tickets for that single day was estimated at about ₦1.5 billion, according to the GovSpend records reviewed.
