Peter Obi on medical rest, suspends public events

Obi on medical rest

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has announced that he will be stepping back from public engagements for a few days after doctors advised him to rest.

In a statement shared on Saturday, Obi explained that he began to feel unwell while attending a tourism programme in Enugu. After undergoing medical checks, he was prescribed medication and told to take one or two days off his usually packed schedule.

Obi wrote: “As advised by my doctor, I will not be able to meet-up with all my scheduled engagements within and outside the country this weekend. I sincerely apologise for any inconveniences this might cause and humbly plead for understanding.”.

The former Anambra state governor assured supporters and associates that he remains committed to his engagements and will return to public activities after his recovery.

Before his health update, Obi had travelled from Enugu to Anambra State, where he visited Good Hope Specialist Hospital in Isulo, Orumba South Local Government Area. He made a ₦10 million donation towards reviving the hospital, which he said would be expanded into a full health complex with a School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Technology.

From Anambra, he proceeded to Owerri, Imo State, where he attended a dinner in honour of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufa’i.
