Katsina: Bandits abduct 39 children, demand N30m as ransom

Some terrorists on Sunday abducted over 40 persons, including 39 children working on a farm in Faskari local government area of Katsina State.

Three days after the abduction, the terrorists are now demanding N30 million as ransom. They also stated that they wanted to have a dialogue with the owner of the farm where the victims were abducted and vowed not to release the captives until either of the demands are met.

The victims are from different villages in Faskari and Funtua local government areas of the State.

It was gathered that the farm was invaded in the afternoon of Sunday and the terrorists took away over 40 workers working there. The 39 children could not run when the terrorists attacked.

According to a source who pleaded to remain anonymous for security reasons, said the terrorists had reached out to some of the parents of the abducted children on Monday, demanding N30m to free the children.

He, however, could not confirm if the owner of the farm had agreed to speak with the terrorists or not.

When contacted, the State’s Police Command spokesperson, SP Gambo Isa, only confirmed that the Command was aware of the abduction. He also did not give the exact number of those abducted during the attack.
