Fuel Subsidy Removal: NURTW To Support 300 Drivers With Palliatives In Kaduna

The Chairman of the National Association of Drivers, (NURTW), Kaduna State Branch, Alhaji Aliyu Tanimu Zaria, has stated that at least 300 drivers will benefit from the support of the association by way of Government palliatives, to ease their sufferings in the wake of the government’s withdrawal of fuel subsidies.

The associations Chaorman, Alhaji Aliyu Tanimu Zaria, said that considering the situation which the withdrawal of fuel subsidies has put the Nigerians in made their group decide to support the commercial drivers with financial support to ease their suffering.

Alh. Tanimu Zaria, who is also the elected Vice President of the National Association representing the North, stated this in his conversation with the press at the office of the association in Kaduna, explained that they will recruit drivers from the 23 local government areas of the State.

He further said, “Considering the condition of the drivers due to the removal of fuel subsidy, that is why we thought it appropriate to give them financial support. If you look now, you will see that a commercial driver, who before the removal of the fuel subsidy conveys passengers to Zaria twice a day, has now been reduced to once a day: and he used to come once a day before, now he doesn’t load for two days, then remains at the motor park with no passengers; and these are people with families to cater to; That is why we decided to give them financial support in order to ease their suffering.

We have units of our asociacion in all the local governments of Kaduna State, through which we will go to each of them and select the prospective beneficiaries up that will benefit from the palliative. Although, it may not appear significant, if you give a driver something that you can take to his family to eat in his house for a day, you’ll have saved some families from potential misery”.

“We are grateful for what Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has done for us. He has assured us that he has made our group one of those who will benefit from the fuel subsidy palliaive tthat the government will distribute to the people of Kaduna State; although he told us to wait for a while, because the queue would very soon reach us. We are very grateful”, he stated.

Alhaji Aliyu Tanimu Zaria urged all members of the association in Northern Nigeria to continue to give them the support they deserve. According to him, as the leaders of the association, they will continue to do their best to unite the members of their members.

The Chaorman explained that the association’s goal is to improve the lives of commercl iadrivers in Northern Nigeria, and the entire country as a whole.

In this regard, he advised those political aspirants who contested in different seats under the platform of the party and did not succeed to come and join hands to move the party forward at different levels across the country.
