The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has called on opposition parties to channel their energies into rebuilding their political structures and preparing for future elections, rather than challenging what it described as already concluded mandates from the 2027 polls.

According to a statement issued yesterday by the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, the position was in response to recent political activities and remarks made by opposition groups within the state and across the country. The statement emphasised that while opposition parties remain a critical component of democratic governance, their participation must be anchored on realism, responsibility, and respect for the will of the electorate.

The party maintained that the outcomes of the recent elections demonstrate Nigerians’ confidence in its leadership and development agenda. It further criticised opposition groups for what it described as inadequate preparation and lack of unity, particularly in the lead-up to party primaries, noting that last-minute alliances among opposition figures reflected internal disorganisation.

The APC advised opposition elements to shift focus toward long-term political planning, urging them to concentrate on restructuring, strategic realignment, and meaningful preparation ahead of the 2031 elections. It also reaffirmed its commitment to governance, stating that its priority remains the delivery of key promises to citizens, including improved infrastructure, expanded economic opportunities, enhanced security, and better welfare for the populace.

In addition, the party encouraged opposition actors to adopt a more constructive approach by accepting electoral outcomes and aligning with prevailing political realities.

It stressed that the period leading to 2031 presents sufficient opportunity for reflection, internal reforms, and the development of credible alternatives, while calling on all political stakeholders to contribute positively to the peace, stability, and progress of Lagos State.
