…Holds handing over ceremony, farewell parade for Oamen
The Western Naval Command, on Wednesday, held a Handing Over Ceremony and Farewell Parade in honour of the outgoing Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Rear-Admiral Mike Gregory Oamen.

The ceremony, which took place at the Command Conference Room, featured the signing of the Handing Over Notes and presentation of the Command insignia to the incoming FOC, Rear-Admiral Abubakar Mustapha.
In his valedictory remarks, Rear Admiral Oamen expressed profound gratitude to God for His grace and guidance throughout his tenure. He appreciated the officers, ratings, and civilian staff of the Command for their loyalty and support, urging them to extend the same commitment to his successor.
In his maiden address, Rear-Admiral Mustapha outlined his vision for a technology-driven Command focused on detecting, deterring, disrupting, and denying criminal activities within the maritime domain.
He thanked the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice-Admiral Idi Abbas, for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to sustain and build on the legacies of his predecessor.
The event culminated in a colourful Farewell Parade and Pulling Out Ceremony at the NNS BEECROFT Parade Ground, attended by senior military officers, dignitaries, and retired personnel.
