FG uncovers 1,617 civil servants with fake employment letters

The Accountant-General of the Federation assured that there will be no delay in paying July 2023 salaries for civil servants, despite previous delays in May and June 2023 salaries.

The past delays in salary payments were attributed to factors beyond the control of the Office of the Accountant-General.

The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan, announced on Tuesday that a thorough investigation conducted by the government revealed a shocking total of 1,618 civil servants who were found to be in possession of fake employment letters.

In a meeting with newsmen in Abuja, in preparation for the upcoming 2023 Civil Servants Week, Yemi-Esan also highlighted the governments commitment to reviewing the Duty Tour Allowances for civil servants. She mentioned that a committee has been established to work on the harmonisation of salaries within the civil service.

On another note, the Accountant-General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein, reassured civil servants that there would be no delay in the payment of July 2023 salaries. She addressed concerns raised due to previous delays in the disbursement of May and June 2023 salaries. Madein attributed the past delays to unforeseen challenges beyond the control of the Office of the Accountant General.

However, she assured that appropriate measures have been put in place to ensure timely salary payments going forward.
