Senator Daura shed light on the alarming surge of banditry attacks in States like Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, and Kebbi, resulting in tragic loss of lives, rampant kidnappings, community displacements, and severe disruptions to socio-economic activities.
He emphasised the pivotal role of fostering close collaboration among security agencies, state governments, and local stakeholders to enhance intelligence gathering and optimise security operations effectively.
The Motion further advocated for a thorough reassessment of the existing strategies employed by security forces, including the potential deployment of additional personnel and specialised Task Forces to identified volatile areas.
Moreover, it called for the establishment of a specialised Task Force dedicated to scrutinising the ramifications of engaging in negotiations with bandits, carefully evaluating short-term gains against the long-term repercussions.
Senator Waziri Tambuwal, in a notable contribution, voiced support for the declaration of a state of emergency in the afflicted states, empowering security agencies with the necessary authority to decisively confront the looming threat posed by terrorist elements.
