Buharis Visit: Youths embark on protest in Katsina

Some aggrieved youths in Katsina have staged a peaceful protest to express their grievances over the state of the nation yesterday.

The protest took place shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned the ?ofar-?aura underpass bridge project executed by the Masari-led administration in Katsina metropolis.

An eyewitness, Mustapha Muhammad Boss, who spoke to newsmen, said immediately the President left the ?ofar-?aura area, the irate youths began making bonfires on the newly constructed road.

According to him, they were also chanting Bamuyi, Bamuyi!, which in Hausa language, translates to: We are not in interested!.

After President Muhammadu Buhari has commissioned the underpass, some unknown youths who resides within the neighbourhood of the bridge began chanting Bamuyi, stoning security operatives and branded political party vehicles as well as burning of tires.

For this reasons, we decided to close our shops for safety. This act is improper and condemnable, because it is uncalled for, Mustapha maintained.

The Police operatives however reportedly dispersed the protesters with tear gas, while normalcy was said to have since returned to the area.

Furthermore, Mustapha said the incident may not be unconnected with the harsh realities of fuel scarcity and the ongoing currency change, which is making life difficult for Nigerians.
