Abubakar Kyari takes over as Acting APC Chairman

..Party confirms resignation of Adamu, Omisore

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has named the Deputy National Chairman, (North), Senator Abubakar Kyari, as the party’s acting national chairman, replacing Abdullahi Adamu.

The APC, after its National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja yesterday formally confirmed the resignation of Adamu as the National Chairman and that of Senator Iyiola Omisore as the party’s National Secretary.

Briefing newsmen after the NWC meeting, Kyari, who represents Borno-North senatorial district in the 9th National Assembly, said that in line with the constitution of the Party, the Deputy National Secretary, Festus Fuanter, will now serve as the acting National Secretary of the APC.

Kyari, who took over from Adamu, presided over the emergency NWC meeting of the ruling party meeting, which was held at the Party secretariat in Abuja.

Adamu was absent from yesterday’s meeting, while Omisore reportedly stormed out of the meeting. Recall that Adamu had only last week said that he has never had any rift with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Sources within the APC claimed that members of the Party had lost confidence in Adamu’s leadership.

Some of the NWC members at the meeting with Kyari included the Deputy National Chairman (South) Emma Enukwu; National Vice-Chairman (North-West), Salihu Lukman; National Vice-Chairman (North-East), Salihu Mustapha; National Vice-Chairman (North-Central), Muazu Bawa; National Vice-Chairman (South West), Issacs Kekemeke; National Vice-Chairman (South East), Ejoroma Arodiogu and the Deputy National Secretary, Barrister Festus Fuanter.
