The Election Petition Tribunal for the February 23 presidential election has given apprpval to President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to inspect the materials used for the presidential elections.
In their separate ex parte applications for the order of inspection, Buhari and his party had said they needed to be granted access to the materials to enable them to defend themselves in any petition which the runner-up in the poll, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and his Peoples Democratic Party, had vowed to file.
The three-man panel led by Abdu Aboki had granted similar request to Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on March 6.
At the tribunal on Thursday, the three-man panel permitted Buhari and the APC to inspect the materials and obtain the certified through copies of the documents from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Atiku is challenging the outcome of the election that held on February 23. Buhari had polled 15,191,847 votes to defeat his opponent who got 11,262,978 votes.
