PDP suspends Sam Egwu, 23 others in Ebonyi

Ø Umahi is new Zik of Africa – Ohanaeze   The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State has suspended former governor of the state, Sam Egwu, and 23 others all of whom are National Assembly members from the State, for alleged anti-party activities.
The party disclosed this in a statement issued yesterday by its State Chairman, Barr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi and the Secretary, Chief Simon Anyigor, respectively.
The affected members were directed to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee later to defend themselves on the allegation leveled against them.
This is coming as the OhanaezeNdigbo Youth Council Worldwide has described the recent public outcries over the defection of Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi from the Peoples  Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) by non-Igbos as crying more than the bereaved.
The group, which likened the outcries as drinking Panadol over someone else’s headache, stated this in a statement signed by President General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Deputy President-General, Comrade Obinna Achionye and Secretary General, Mazi okwu Nnabuike.
The Council wondered why the PDP and non-Igbos are jittery, when Igbos are grateful for the courageous stance of Umahi to lead the re-integration of South-East geo-political zone back to mainstream politics in the country,  whereby Igbo can harvest bountifully the dividends of democracy.
The statement further said that the decampment of the governor is a plus for the Igbos, as history has shown that traditionally they don’t excel in opposition.
